We've made the tough choice to postpone our film-festival/outdoor book market/ day by the river due to a sudden cold, wet turn for the worse in Monte Rio this Saturday. We’re organizing a film festival the way they were meant to be: a weekend event in the woods with food, swimming and books! We’ll be screening the work of filmmakers who have made films just for this event. Given who we are, our theme will be…books!
Selected entries will be shown and judged by a surprise panel at the Rio Theater in Monte Rio, CA on the banks of the beautiful Russian River, and about 1 1/2 hours north of San Francisco, making it a perfect little day trip. The festival will take place on October 25th, 2014, with events on the Friday night preceding, for those who want to come up and stay the night. You can spend the day swimming in the river (October is when it’s warm in the Bay Area!), eating from the Rio’s cafe, and shopping for used books in stands from some of our favorite private booksellers. Our panel of guest judges will consist of some of the artists and personalities we love most from around the world.
